Cape Cod Home Design in Virtual Reality

Posted by REEF Builders on Wed, Apr 14, 2021

Designing and building a new home can be a daunting process, but new technology has made it much easier.  REEF Builders is now using the latest in 3D design and integrating that capability with an immersive design review process using virtual reality.  The virtual reality aspect allows our customers to see, and almost feel what their new home will look like.  In this platform we can examine different finish options, color schemes, furniture layouts and we can very quickly make design modifications and see those results in 3D.  Gone are the days of confusing line drawings, covered in details many just don't understand. Below is a video of a recent design presentation:

If you are considering building a new home on Cape Cod, you will want to work with a team that has 35 year track record of success, and is on the cutting edge of design and building technology.

Sketch of a custom-designed Cape Cod Home by REEF

Posted by REEF Cape Cod's Home Builder on Fri, Apr 26, 2013

Jim & Joyce contacted us a few weeks ago. Their Cape Cod home is about a half mile from the beach. They love the location, but knew that if they were going to spend more time on the Cape, the house needed to be updated. Actually, they realized, replacing the house with new construction would be a much more cost-effective strategy.

We sat with Jim & Joyce and learned about their lifestyle, their likes and dislikes, and who they wanted to accommodate in their new home. On their list was a sunroom, a private master suite, vaulted living room, and of course maximizing the living space on a small lot: 7,800square foot lot (less than ¼ acre).

Jim Hagerty, REEF VP and lead designer, sketched some ideas and shared some thoughts on plans they may want to consider. Then he got busy.

Today, a beautiful Cape Cod Friday, Jim and Joyce will return to meet with REEF, and make some design decisions. I'm sure they'll be pleased with progresson their home design:

Dual Master Bedroom Designs - A Popular Trend

Posted by Matthew Teague on Tue, Apr 16, 2013

This year, we here at REEF have had several requests for homes designed with two master bedrooms.  This is a growing trend for Cape Cod Homes as one generation moves towards retirement, and looks to design a home that can accommodate either an aging parent or visiting children and their families.  This is not a new concept, but the design can become challenging.  The key is to create spaces that are both private, yet sill provide good access to all of the central features of the home, such as the kitchen, living rooms etc.  Here are some plans from Housingzone.com that show different, dual master designs in both 2 story and ranch-style homes.  This is a great idea for your Cape Cod retirement home, and a sound investment for a new but smart concept in family living. New Design for Waterfront Home

Posted by Matthew Teague on Thu, Dec 22, 2011
We have been working with a customer for the last few weeks who owns a unique property on the outer cape. The lot overlooks an inlet and working harbor, but is very small. The challenge for us was to maximize the views of this special location, while meeting the smaller footprint required for this site.  Also, the owner had asked for some contemporary features both inside and outside which was a welcome change from our usual traditionally styled home designs. So here is what we came up with.  Let us know what you think!  -Request Info
