Bedroom ideas for your Cape Cod Home

Posted by REEF Cape Cod's Home Builder on Thu, May 09, 2013

Often we are asked to maximize the space available on a parcel of land. It always seems that friends visit when you have a place on Cape Cod, so people need to accommodate extended family and friends.   Space is usually at a premium, so we find ourselves designing to fit as much fun as possible into new homes.

One of the hidden benefits of building a new home on Cape Cod is having fun during the process. Once the design is complete, and the construction begins, you can start planning the décor.

Here are some great bedroom ideas that maximize the utility of available space, and make the home seem bigger. Some of the decorating is a little out there, but...well you’ll get the idea.

TREEHOUSES

Posted by REEF Cape Cod's Home Builder on Thu, Aug 23, 2012

TREEHOUSES

Few buildings have the ability to inspire awe and imagination like a treehouse.  Anyone who has ever climbed a tree knows there is a unique feeling that comes with being elevated.

Treehouses have long been hideouts and getaways for children, but over the last quarter-century, there has been a shift towards making treehouses accessible across a much broader poplulation.

Today's treehouses are built using specially engineered bolts and hangers to ensure safety and minimize tree damage.  Even with the new engineering the feeling hasn't changed.

So for the kid in all of us, I have put together a gallery of some of my favorite treehouses. For a more in depth view into the world of treehouse design and construction visit Tree top builders   Enjoy!

What Does REEF - Cape Cod's Builder and The Wequassett Resort Have in Common?

Posted by REEF Cape Cod's Home Builder on Mon, Jul 23, 2012

This spring REEF Field Supervisor Wesley Price, was commissioned by the Wequassett Resort, to design and build a Children's Pirate Ship Buffet Table. The project took about six weeks to complete.  The exterior of the boat was built entirely of reclaimed Western Red Cedar.  The floor and countertops are built of reclaimed Antique Heart Pine.

The vessel can now be seen, from time to time, sailing around the grounds at the Wequasset on Pleasant Bay.

Follow the link below to watch a brief time lapse video of the entire project from frame to finish.  Shiver me Timbers!

Think Outside the Box for Your Remodel, Renovation

Posted by Matthew Teague on Tue, Jun 26, 2012

REEF is a Design / Build company and as such, our project team owns the project performance and finished product right from the start.  When considering design, use of spaces, and ideas for expansion, people often become trapped in two dimensions.  Taking advantage of all of the possibilities of your property can have dramatic results.  Instead of adding a 2nd story on a home with a sloping lot, why not add a 2nd story on the lower basement side of the house, and maximize the available space and slope. In many cases, this can save money and time, especially when considering expensive retaining walls or foundations to  support a new structure.

We found this interesting article from HOUZZ.com that took a plain old colonial and really turned it into something unique. With the right design team and a little thinking outside the box, you could have the same results. Here is the article: http://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/2584837/list/My-Houzz--New-England-Add-On-Provides-Privacy--Views
